About Cultural Mapping
What is cultural mapping?
In the simplest terms, cultural mapping is a process of identifying and symbolizing the elements and forces that contribute to the arts and culture environment. They can be intangible things – like values, relationships, history and their inspirations. Or they can be physical things – like people, places, materials or funding.
By graphically representing these forces and elements, we can see more clearly what is important to them and how these elements are connected. We can begin to examine strengths, weakness, networks, focal points, needs and opportunities.
